Congrats to our two Comets who punched their tickets to Ford Field and will be competing in two weeks at the Individual State Championships.

Trent Hocter places 3rd and Chris Sorrow places 4th at individual regionals Saturday.

Comets fall in district championship to Addison 27-40

We opened the evening with a 78-6 victory over Concord in the semi-finals, but didn’t have enough horsepower to finish off Addison in the finals. 

Super proud of everyone on this team. It has been one heck of a year. 

As we close out the team portion of the season we now head into individual districts this Saturday at Hudson high school.

Comets News · Comets Wrestlers Finish 2nd in Cascades


The Hanover-Horton Comets wrestling team continues to set school marks as the Comets had their best ever finish in conference with a 2nd place, falling behind just Manchester.

The Comets placed 2nd as a team in the individual tourney after finishing the dual portion of the conference schedule in 2nd with a 6-1 dual meet record Tournament placers

Trent Hocter- Conference Champ at 189#

Chris Sorrow- Runner up at 135#

Josh Frailey- Runner up at 145#

Zack Shipe- 3rd at 112#

Jacob Valentine- 3rd at 130#

Big wins by non placers helped to clinch our 2nd place position. 18 of our 21 victories came with bonus points and we had a total of 14 wins by pin. 

Great job Comets! Rest up, heal up, and get ready for Team districts next Thursday.

Comets News · Swihart All-State as a Freshman; Wrestlers Perform Well


Danni Swihart became the first girl at Hanover-Horton to earn All-state recognition in wrestling on Sunday. The girl state wrestling championships were held Sunday.

Danni had an opening round bye followed by 2 wins via pin she was into the semifinals. She then lost on Technical Fall to the eventual state champion. Danni battled back hard in the 3rd place match to win a 3-1 victory. Great job Danni.

On Saturday, the wrestling team went to Grass Lake for the Warrior individual invitation.

Comets place 5th of 17 teams at Grass Lake Individual, behind #2 ranked Div 4 New Lothrup and (3 ) Div 1 or Div 2 teams.

Comets move into second place in the conference with big wins over Napoleon and East Jackson. 

Opened the night with exciting hard fought matches up and down the lineup and secured a victory over Napoleon 49-24, and finished the evening  by defeating East Jackson 69-12.

Comets News · Chris Sorrow Earns 100th Victory as Comets Finish 4th


Comets made the icy trek to Bronson today and came out in 4th place at the very competitive Clark Walker Invitational.

Dropping only 1 in pool competition and finishing 2nd in the pool
48-36 over Brandywine.
Lost to #5 ranked Division 3 Lakewood 24-58
51-30 over Lawton

Our first match after crossing over from the pool we lost 24-69 to Division 2 Gull Lake, and then lost on criteria to Bronson 40-40.

Congrats to Chris Sorrow on earning his 100th career victory and surpassing the school career takedown record.

Comets News · Hocter Earns 100th Win; Comets Defeat Grass Lake and Center.


Comet wrestlers returned to conference action tonight and came away with 2 victories, bringing our conference record to 3-1 and our overall record to 12-6

We started the night out strong with a win over Grass Lake 69-11, and finished the evening with a 55-21 victory over Michigan Center.

We also added our second member of the Century Club.
Congrats to Trent Hocter on his 100th career victory.

Comets News · Frailey Earns 100th Win


The Hanover-Horton Comets wrestling team traveled to Dexter for the Al Ritt Invitational and came in 3rd place Saturday. The Comets defeated the tournament skittles team (a team made-up of extra wrestlers from each attending school), 60-9 The Comets then lost to Class A Belleville 51-27, beat class A Ann Arbor Puioneer 72-6, beat class A Ypsilanti Lincoln 76-0, and fell to class B Dexter 40-30.

Randy Frailey became the first Comets wrestler to earn his 100th career varsity victory. Madden Hall also had a personal highlight with his first varsity pin.
