The Hanover Varsity Boys team had a match against the Cards of Michigan Center splitting the bakers 6-4 and heading into regular games. With regular games of 957-977 the boys averaged over 193 per game to secure the victory 25-5.  The team of  Jack Kittel, Ben Childs, Layne Holda, Bryce Blackledge, Easton Morehouse and Daniel Gallant were led by   Bryce Blackledge 227 career high game  and a career high series of 415, Layne Holda 224,Easton Morehouse season high 215 game and career high 407 series , Jack Kittel 181 and Ben Childs 196.

The Varsity Girls had a tough match vs the Lady Cards as they found themselves down 0-10 after bakers.  They regrouped in regulars with games of 803-900 to defeat Michigan Center 16.5-13.5 averaging 170 per game  The team of Kat Childs, Halle Curtis Sophie Stiles, Mackenzie Lafountain, Kaytie Warren  and Kassidy Alexander  were led by Kassidy Alexander  season high 247 game and season high 437 series, Kat Childs 174-187, Sophie Stiles 167,Kaytie Warren 158-154, Makenzie Lafountain 151-145, Halle Curtis Career high 130 game

The Hanover Varsity Boys team bowled against a very good Manchester team losing a close match 11-19. The team of  Jack Kittel, Ben Childs, Layne Holda, Bryce Blackledge, Easton Morehouse and Daniel Gallant were led by   Ben Childs 236-232 career high 468 series, Daniel Gallant career best 216 game with a career best 370 series, Bryce Blackledge 205-174 season high 379 Series, Jack Kittel 190-172.

The Varsity Girls were coming off a tough loss to Grass Lake and needed a win against the undermanned Manchester Dutchman  and came away with the victory 29-1 .    The team of Kat Childs, Halle Curtis Sophie Stiles, Mackenzie Lafountain, Kaytie Warren  and Kassidy Alexander  were led by Kassidy Alexander 191, Kat Childs 153-163,Kaytie Warren 146, Makenzie Lafountain 161-143

The Hanover Varsity Boys team went head to head against the favored conference champion losing a tough one to the Warriors 6-24. The team of  Jack Kittel, Ben Childs, Layne Holda, Bryce Blackledge, Easton Morehouse and Daniel Gallant were led by  Jack Kittel 242 career high game, Ben Childs 203,  Layne Holda 216  Bryce Blackledge 194.

The Varsity Girls needed to win their match vs Grass Lake to remain in conference contention  but with a couple of the Warriors having career nights, the Lady Comets lost 3-27 .    The team of Kat Childs, Halle Curtis Sophie Stiles, Mackenzie Lafountain, Kaytie Warren  and Kassidy Alexander  were led by Kassidy Alexander 194, Kat Childs 187-147,Kaytie Warren 145-148, Sophie Stiles 143

The JV team Squad A consisting of Josh Faling, Lucas Cain, Austin Brown , Sebastian Ramsey and Quade Peter lost 3-27.  Led by Lucas Cain 159, Quade Peter 148-156 and Austin Brown 152.

Squad B team of Cooper Donders, Nick Schuette, Elijah Rodabaugh and Troy Allison lost to Grass Lake 5-15.  Led by Nick Shuette 125, Elijah Rodabaugh 119, Cooper Donders 116 and Troy Allison 112.

The Hanover Varsity Boys team went down to Hudson Lanes to bowl a snowed out make up match vs Addsion.  The boys came into the match after a big victory over Vandy wanted to stay focused going into a tough house and staying focused is what they did soundly defeating the Panthers at their home 29-1.    Led by  , Jack Kittel 197-233 career high 430 Series, Ben Childs 201, Easton Morehouse 198-183, Layne Holda 226  Bryce Blackledge 186 and Daniel Gallant 189.

The Varsity Girls were coming off their first loss of the season and needed a win to get back on track.  The Lady Comets had a  dominating performance defeating the Panthers 28-2.  The team of Kat Childs, Halle Curtis Sophie Stiles, Mackenzie Lafountain, Kaytie Warren  and Kassidy Alexander  were led by Kaytie Warren 173-143, Kat Childs 166-168

The Hanover Varsity Boys team came up with a huge victory over the Jayhawks of Vandercook Lake defeating the birds 23-7. Led by Layne Holda 241-430 series, Easton Morehouse 182 , Jack Kittel 188 and 215 career high 403 Series,  Bryce Blackledge 190 and Ben Childs 165.

The Varsity Girls battled a struggling Vandy  team splitting Bakers and falling behind 4-6 going into regulars.  Led by Kassidy Alexander (220 season high) 420 series, Mackenzie Lafountain 181, Kat Childs 176 and Kaytie Warren 141. Unfortunately the team of Kat Childs, Halle Curtis Sophie Stiles, Mackenzie Lafountain, Kaytie Warren  and Kassidy Alexander lost to the Hawks 10.5-19.5 in their first loss of the season.

Comets News · Bowlers Beat Quincy


The Hanover Varsity Boys team came into tonight’s match against Quincy winless in three matches. After impressive practices over the past week they came out with baker games of 181 and 212, taking 6 points. Heading into individual games we were lead by Ben Childs with games 166 and career high 267 and career high 433 series, which in bowling terms that is called a century game (100 pins or more from your previous game), Layne Holda career high 257- 213 and an impressive  470 series, Bryce Blackledge career  high 216(second game), Easton Morehouse 185 and 174, , Jack Kittel 200 and 198 career high 398, Daniel Gallant 144(first game),. First game total was 952 taking 7 points. Second game total was 1068 taking all 9 points which totaled 2020 pins.

Final score Hanover 24 Quincy 6.   Record 1-3

The Varsity Girls battled the Quincy  team splitting Bakers and falling behind 4-6 going into regulars.  In the first match Mackenzie Lafountain (198) and Kassidy Alexander (218) led the team to win the first regular 737-704.  The second game was a lot closer with Kat Childs stepping up with a 210 assisted by Kassidy Alexander 180 tying the second game  723-723 and saving their perfect record.  The team of Kat Childs, Halle Curtis Sophie Stiles, Mackenzie Lafountain, Kaytie Warren  and Kassidy Alexander showed great determination and perseverance in this amazing victory.  Great job Lady Comets!!!

The JV team of Josh Faling, Landon Murrell, Sebastian Ramsey, Troy Allison, Quade Peter and Elijah Radabaugh also saw some great bowling and a lot of PRs but unfortunately fell short of victory 11-19.  Led by  Elijah Radabaugh PR 161-137 PR 298 series, Josh Faling PR 152- 124  PR 276 series, Sebastian Ramsey PR 147,Quade Peter 145.  Great bowling JV!!!

The Hanover-Horton Comets have had three bowling matches to date. The girls are 3-0 on the season. The boys are 0-3 but have shown improvement.

The Varsity Boys had a match against  Napoleon at Jax60  Lanes on   January 26, 2021  and lost to the Pirates  7-23.  Team consisting of Bryce Blackledge, Layne Holda, Jack Kittel, Ben Childs, Easton Morehouse Daniel Gallant.  Led by Ben Childs  175-162,Layne Holda 190-074, Bryce Blackledge 179-166, Easton Morehouse 164 and Jack Kittel 175.  Record 0-1

The Varsity Boys had a match against  East Jackson at Jax60  Lanes on   February 2nd   and lost a close match 12-18 to the Trojans.  Team consisting of Bryce Blackledge, Austin Brown, Lucas Cain, Ben Childs, Easton Morehouse Daniel Gallant.  Led by Ben Childs  208-159,Austin Brown 175-182, Bryce Blackledge 172-150, Easton Morehouse 209 and Daniel Gallant 162     Record 0-3

The Varsity Girls overwhelmed a young East Jackson team  27-3 .  The team of Kat Childs, Halle Curtis Sophie Stiles, Mackenzie Lafountain, Mackenzie Lafountain, Kaytie Warren  and Kassidy Alexander  Led by  Kassidy Alexander 201-201,,Kat Childs 214-171, Mackenzie Lafountain 173-143, Sofie Stiles 182.     Record 3-0

Drum Roll please!!!!! I’m happy to report that our boys JV team (Austin Brown, Troy Allison, Quade Peter, Landon Murrell and Lucas Cain) won their first match of the season tonight 30-0!!! Way to go guys The mixed JV team (Audrey Powell, Sophia Donders, Cooper Donders, Josh Faling, Elijah Radabaugh, and Sebastian Ramsey) also won their first match 18-12!! Way to stay focused and knock down those pins  Jv record 1-0

Comets News · Alexander State Champion Bowler


Kassidy Alexander became the second Hanover-Horton bowler to win a state championship Saturday at Royal Scot lanes in Lansing.  Kassidy had to qualify for matchplay and then defeated 5 different girls in winning the state championship. Way to go!

Kassidy Alexander took first place at bowling regionals at Jax60 on Saturday. Jack Kittle took 9th place on the boys side. Both will be going to the state finals next Saturday

The Hanover-Horton girls bowling team won the Cascades Conference outright Friday night. Varsity players include Kassidy Alexander, Kathryn Childs, McKenna Davis, Reagan Fazekas, Madison Ashworth, Mackenzie Stiles, Makenzie Lafountain, and Katherine Warren. The Lady Comets are coached by Joe Childs and assisted by Aarron Alexander, Matt and Diane Anderson. GREAT JOB LADIES!
