The Hanover-Horton boys cross country team finished first at regionals at Sharpe Park on Friday. Dean Reynolds was regional champion. The Comets girls team finished second.Both teams will be competing at the state meet at MIS next Saturday

Comets News · Boys CC Wins Conference; Girls Tie For Conference


The Hanover-Horton cross country teams each earned a championship Monday. The boys cruised to a Cascades conference championship led by Dean Reynolds who turned in the 9th best time in conference history with a 16: 28.5. Rogan Melling and Joey Shepherd finished in 2nd and 3rd place. Joey Reynolds also earned all conference.

The girls team entered the conference meet in 3rd place but won the conference meet to earn a share of the conference title with Grass Lake and Manchester. Sophia Reynolds, Alexis Flint, Clara Rector, and Kathryn Childs all earned all conference.

Comets News · MS CC at Sand Creek Invite Results


The Comets had a great invitational last night in Sand Creek. They ran against 16 different schools. Almost all runners had PRs and some even had negative splits! Because of the way the race was ran, official scores were not put into athletic.net but the boys and girls do not take first or second place.

Scoring for the boys team was Zach Hassenzahl with a time of 13:01.3, Brodey Bially, AJ Fielder, Dylan Bailey, and Levi Bradley.
Scoring for the girls team was Macy Fazekas with a time of 14:06.1, Brynlee Swihart, Ava Schnell, Brynn deGlee, and Kennedy Bugbee.
15 of the 24 runners yesterday evening took home medals! It was a great night to be a Comet!

Comets News · MS CC Teams Win at Manchester


The Middle School Cross Country Teams competed in Manchester against Manchester. The boys and girls had great weather to run in and both teams came out on top! 

 
The boys won 14 to 30. Scoring for the boys was  Zach Hassenzahl in second with a time of 12:55.12,  Brodey Bially, AJ Fielder, and Dylan Bailey.
 
The girls won 14 to 26. Scoring for the girls was Macy Fazekas in second with a time of 14:09.86, Brynlee Swihart, Ava Schnell, and Kennedy Bugbee. All runners worked hard and had great times. Great job comets!

Tuesday the Middle School Cross Country team competed at Heritage Park against Addison. All runners had great races, I think the cooler weather really helped. Every single runner improved their time from the last time we were at Heritage Park!
The Boys team won 12 to 30! Scoring for the comets was Nicholas Sorrow taking 1st place with a time of 12:46.98, Zach Hassenzahl, Brodey Bially, and Grant Bulgrien.
The Girls team won 16-20! Scoring for the comets was Macy Fazekas taking 1st place with a time of 14:17.12,  Brynlee Swihart, Ava Schnell, and Brynn deGlee.
It was great to see the Comets working together and being so successful out on the course!  Go Comets!

This past Tuesday the Middle School Cross Country team competed at Grass Lake against Grass Lake and Michigan Center. All runners had great races and almost everyone had a PR!  One athlete even ran almost 8 minutes faster!
Boys team lost to Grass Lake 14 to 22 but beat Michigan Center 10 to 34! Scoring for the comets was Nicholas Sorrow taking 2nd place with a time of 13:23, Zach Hassenzahl, Brodey Bially, and Dylan Bailey.
The Girls team lost to Grass Lake 14 to 22 but  some great times! Scoring for the comets was Macy Fazekas taking 3rd place with a time of 14:20,  Brynlee Swihart, Ava Schnell, and Brynn deGlee.
There was so much hard work and we were very impressed with every single one of our athletes. Great teamwork and great job representing Hanover-Horton.   Go Comets!

Comets News · MS CC Boys Win, Girls 5th


Boys team took first place and brought home a trophy! Scoring for the comets was Nicholas Sorrow taking 9th place with a time of 6:21.2, Zach Hassenzahl 11th, AJ Fielder 15th, Brodey Bially 17th, and Dylan Bailey 29th.

The Girls teams took 5th place and had some great times! Scoring for the comets was Macy Fazekas taking 7th place with a time of 7:03,  Brynlee Swihart 19th, Ava Schnell 21st, Kennedy Bugbee 35th, and Brynn deGlee 42nd.

The runners did well changing pace from running two miles Tuesday, down to one mile Friday. They were up against a tough hill and I saw a lot of hustle!

The High School boys team finished in 3rd place just behind Webberville and Chelsea. Dean Reynolds, Rogan Melling, and Logan Shepherd finished 2, 3, 4.
The varsity girls team finished in 4th place

Comets News · MS Cross Country Victorious


The Comets battled it out against Stockbridge Tuesday at Heritage Park.

The boy’s team won 14 to 26 against Stockbridge. The top four scorers for the boy’s team were Nicholas Sorrow with a time of 13:19, Zach Hassenzahl, AJ Fielder, and Brodey Bially.
The girl’s team defeated Stockbridge as well 15 to 23. Our top 4 scorers were Macy Fazekas with a time of 15:34, Ava Schnell, Brynlee Swihart, and Molly Soper.
It was a great race for both the boys and girls team. They were faced with the challenge of running their entire race in masks and did a remarkable job. Thankfully the rules have changed and at Friday’s invitational at Hillsdale Academy they can be mask free!

Comets News · Comets Make Jackson Area All-Star Cross Country Team


Several Hanover-Horton Comets were mentioned on the Jackson Area All-Star Cross Country team. The team is voted on by are coaches. For the girls, Reagan Fazekas and Kathryn Childs were both named honorable mention. For the Division III State champion boys team, Garrett Melling and Dean Reynolds were named first team. Andrew Swihart, Rogan Melling, Logan Shepherd, and Shane Sauber were named to the second team, and Richard Haislip was named honorable mention. Coach Dean Blackledge was named coach of the year. Congrats Comets!

Comets News · Boys CC State Champs!


Congratulations to the Boys Cross Country Team for winning the second State Championship tn the last three years.  Garrett Melling led the Comets finishing eighth.  Dean Reynolds finished in tenth place.  Both earned All-State honors.  Andy Swihart, Rogan Melling and Logan Shepherd turned in tough, gritty performances to the secure the State Championship.  Shawn Sauber and Richard Haislip also ran strong races to contribute to the win.  They completed an undefeated season with 209 wins. Great job guys.STATE CHAMPIONS!!!!!

The Girls Cross Country team finished twenty third at the State Meet on Saturday.  The Girls ran a determined race in difficult conditions.
