The Hanover-Horton Comets had 8 seniors play their last home game Monday night against rival Michigan Center and the Comets came out blazing, taking a 10-1 lead en route to a 79-47 victory. The first shot of the night was an oman of things to come as Jack Brockie nailed a 3-pointer off the left wing. The 3 points gave Brockie 1000 for his career. The 18-1 Comets, who have already clinched the Cascades title, can cap a perfect conference season Thursday at Manchester.

Hanover-Horton used good shooting all night to take a commanding lead in the 2nd quarter. The Comets shot 55% while limiting the Cardinals to 32%. The Comets shared the ball well also accounting for 24 assists on their 32 makes. Four Comets were in double-figures scoring led by seniors Mitch Sauber with 18 and 8 assists, Luc Laketa 16, Bryce Sanders 13, and Rhett Laketa 11. Senior Damon Preston had 7 points, Conner Mortimer 6, Jack Brockie 5 points, 9 rebounds, and 5 assists, and Carson Sanders 3 points.

Joining seniors Brockie, Luc and Rhett Laketa, Preston, Sanders, were Trent Finegan and Matt Johnson also playing in their last home game.

The JV Comets fell to Michigan Center 89-68.

The Lady Comets finished their season falling 49-36 to a good Leslie team in district play at Lumen Christi. The Comets had cut the lead to 5 points late in the game but couldn’t make the one more play needed to steal the game away.
