The Hanover-Horton boys basketball team jumped out to a 25-7 1st quarter lead and never looked back in defeating East Jackson 82-47 Thursday night. The Comets first half lead was as large as 38 but the second half saw the Trojans inch back to within 30.
The Comets shot 52% from the floor and held a 40-27 rebound advantage and had 18 steals, many leading to easy baskets. Trent Finegan led the Comets with 15 points, Jack Brockie had 13, Luc Laketa 12, Mitch Sauber 10, Brogan Brockie 9, Carson Sanders and Rhett Laketa had 5 each, Bryce Sanders, Matt Johnson, and Conner Mortimer 3 each and Kyler Rod and Damon Preston 2 each. Jack Brockie led the Comets on the boards with 7 and had 6 assists. Sauber had 5 steals and Luc Laketa and Mortimer each had 4.
The JV team also had an impressive victory beating the Trojans 57 to 29. The Comets are home next Tuesday in a key conference battle against Grass Lake
