Hanover-Horton boys golf team fought off adverse conditions, a tough Forest Akers West golf course, and Big Rapids to win the schools 2nd state championship of the year. The outcome wasn’t known until about 30 minutes after play had ended. The Comets and Big Rapids top 4 players tied at at a total of 651 for the 2-day tournament. The MHSAA tiebreaker is to take the score of each teams 5th player. Hanover-Horton’s Kyler Rod shot a 89 today for a 2-day total of 182, besting the Big Rapids 5th player by 6 strokes and giving the Comets the championship. The Comets were led by Brody Spink who earned all-state honors with an 83 and total of 159. Garrett Spink shot a 79 on the day and a total of 161. Brogan Brockie had an 83 and total of 164. Jack Brockie shot an 85 and a total of 167, The Comets are coached by Mike Brockie. Was to go Comets!
